Inside of the greeting cards are blank for your own message. 4” x 5 ¾” comes with white envelop.
Each GumHearts Tattoo Sticker is approximately 1.5” x 2” and comes with it’s own original date, time and location that I have documented. Last a few days on your skin, or almost forever on most of materials such as paper, plastic, wood etc.
50 GumHearts Appliquéd T-shirts will be available for tomorrow at Corona Plaza, and another 50 for next Saturday at Diversity Plaza, Jackson Heights, as a part of Queens Art Intervention 2016 by RPGA Studio. http://www.regoparkgreenalliance.org
By cutting the T-shirts with scissors and tying them together each participant will create own tote bag to take home. Open to public and free to participate. All T-shirts were used/unused and donated for this project.
So, how do we turn t-shirts into Tote bag without sewing? Cut and Tie, simple.
Get a T-shirt.
Cut off sleeves. Cut around neck, so opening is wide enough as a bag.
Make slits on the bottom. maybe 1 inch wide for each. Length could be vary as long as you can tie.
Tie 2 pieces together first, then tie different pair to make stronger. Slits could be much longer. If you turn T-shirts inside out and tie, the slits would stay inside the bag and invisible. Be creative and have fun.
This is my third year to participate Queens Art Intervention. The theme for this year is “Litter Less, Recycle More". I will be suggesting No Sewing Tote Bag Making with used T-shirts to save environment + 5 cents from February.

Each donated, most are from Japan and such great quality, T-shirts has been redesigned with GumHearts appliqué to be recreated into tote bag.
GumHearts appliqué represents the immediate neighborhood.
Experienced one medium earthquake in Fukushima and some typhoon during visit. High humid dose not allow laundry dry. Saw a lot more foreigners ever in Tokyo, traveling and working. People there follow traffic lights and that irritated me. Young people who works at stores talk like robot, so do not have to think? Found people seek lower priced food, drink probably needed for economical situation there, that I have always done anyway. I enjoyed a cup of freshly brewed coffee with 100yen, about $1, at Seven Eleven instead of at a cafe for $300-500 yen. Here are some snapshots.
I will be doing Artist Talk tomorrow , Sat, 27th, 6-7pm at Yokohama Paradise Kaikan. Will talk about my recent 28 years life in New York as the first generation of immigrant in USA, artist, mother, teaching artist.
