Drawings from March 3rd, 2000.

March 3rd, 2000, I have asked my students, 2-4 years old, if I could keep all of their drawings and they said ok. Thank you guys! These are my treasures.  I was expecting my first and last child birth with in a month. I talked about how much my baby boy was active and lived in my stomach, how baby got nutrition from mom etc.

This took pace at the art class in Japanese at the Children’s Museum of the Arts in Soho, New York, moved to West Village in 2014.  I have taught at the Museum from 1991-2015. Thank you, Kathleen Schneider, Fonder of the museum, for giving me great teaching opportunities who is quite new in USA.

“Not Entirely Safe”, Claire Langevin Vinyard, Napanoch, NY.

After waited for it a full year on my kitchen/living shelf, definitely enjoyed the one full year to simply imagine fermented process in the bottle, Wow! we tasted “Not Entirely Safe”, apple sider, Claire Langevin Vinyard, NY. I have to get one for next year. Thanks you, Nicole!

Summer harvest

Oh, this is my long term luxury pleasure, organic farming, out of the window of NYC apartment during summer. Since I am from Tokyo originally, farming was not something very close to me and never interested before I move to NYC. My Italian landlord used to give me bags of harvest such as tomatoes, cucumbers, grapes and more from their large back yard every summer. Home grown tomatoes taste like fruits and so good. Squirrels are always my enemy.

Several days ago, mini tomatoes, medium tomatoes and Shiso Japanese basil.

This morning, more tomatoes and a nigauri/bitter cucumber that Eiko and Ken brought me a baby plant that amazes me how fast and powerfully grows since last month.

No Sew Tote Bag

So, how do we turn t-shirts into Tote bag without sewing?  Cut and Tie, simple.

Get a T-shirt.

Get a T-shirt.

Cut off sleeves. Cut around neck, so opening is wide enough as a bag.

Make slits on the bottom. maybe 1 inch wide for each. Length could be vary as long as you can tie.

Tie 2 pieces together first, then tie different pair to make stronger. Slits could be much longer. If you turn T-shirts inside out and tie, the slits would stay inside the bag and invisible. Be creative and have fun.

GumHearts. Discarded. Disgusting. Do not touch it.

No one asked to leave them on the street. Unexpectedly, coincidentally, not willingly stepped on by someone unknown lying with their slimy saliva. You do not want to touch them. The shape and color change with the condition and time, out of control. I am documenting them using cellphone camera.  www.niizekihiromi.com
