QAI17
What Dwelling means to you? A space could be divided into this side and the other side by a piece of wall. What dose this side mean to you? What about the other side?
When I still lived in my parents house that was a newly built large modern house in suburban Tokyo, I did not enjoy being there. It was such a great feeling to live in my own old small studio apartment with sharing vault toilet. You never know what makes someone happy.
Over two decades ago, I started to collect junkmails to make handmade paper mache. Plastic windows are bi-products of it. The nature of the material: transparency, strength, flexibility, sound, colors and designs which reflect the envelopes’ original purposes, has led me continue my investigation.
All insides of envelopes create interior of the dwelling. Most of windows show their original security camouflage design as their frame. If you could be at the site, would hear the sound the windows make.
QAI event went to 4pm. My project has extended till 8pm with potable lights. Yoko and Mayuko, Thank you for your great support till late this night.

No Sew Tote Bag
So, how do we turn t-shirts into Tote bag without sewing? Cut and Tie, simple.
Get a T-shirt.
Cut off sleeves. Cut around neck, so opening is wide enough as a bag.
Make slits on the bottom. maybe 1 inch wide for each. Length could be vary as long as you can tie.
Tie 2 pieces together first, then tie different pair to make stronger. Slits could be much longer. If you turn T-shirts inside out and tie, the slits would stay inside the bag and invisible. Be creative and have fun.
